luggage trolleys are amazing!
10/12/10 I stepped of the coach when I arrived at the KL LCC Terminal to find an angel (a silver shiny one with wheels) right in front of me. I loaded my backpack and 2nd bag onto the trolley, slung my board over my shoulder and off i strolled. I was so excited by the trolley that i took a little 15minute walk around the terminal to test out my new found freedom of movement. It had literally made...

Cherating!
07/12/10 I’ve been here less than 24hours but I love it. To be honest the fact that it isn’t a City sold it to me but its quiet, laid-back, theres no hasseling touts and no traffic screaming down the street. Its one long string of guesthouse, warungs and shops and a long stretch of beach. Its got a beach atmosphere…lots of surfers (local and tourists), surfboars racked up outside...

Journey to Cherating
After yet another terrible sleep I was in no mood to find out that there was suddenly no 830am bus and we had to wait until 11am to get out bus to Kuantan. We sat outside Macca’s in the station and after a hot milo (best drink ever) I got myself nice and comfy by lying on the floor outside a phone shop. Got a nice 30minutes kip but apparently everyone that walked pass was staring at me. I...

A night with the Welsh, English and Scottish
04/12/10 Got chatting to a Scottish Del who was working offshore and was staying in a port just down from Malacca. He was sat with a strange Texan character named Bert but he took of a little later. Del explained how ‘working offshore’ worked and told us that he got paid good money but worked long shifts of 6weeks on 3weeks off and never really settled. He found it difficult to meet...

The eating of the tripe (Cow's stomach)
04/12/10 Was pretty knackered today because I basically slept in an igloo last night, the air-con was on ‘arctic setting’ and even though I was bundled up in half my backpack I failed to get any sleep. I wandered around the giant shopping mall in the morning, slurped on a Cool Blog (amazing ice coffee) and bought a sweet t-shirt.
Back at the hostel cafe, there I was minding my own...
Want to see something strangely impressive...
03/12/10 Leighton and I met back up with Ayla and Jamie in Jonker Street which is famous for its lively night markets but the first thing we happened to come across was a sign with a photo of a Asian dude with his finger in a coconut whilst striking a Kung Fu style pose. Of course we stayed and watched! Leighton got picked to be his volunteer which was hilarious! For about an 40minutes coconut...

getting lost in Malacca
03/12/10 I eventually managed to get to sleep on our Night bus to Malacca, after some guy moved half the bus around so his mother could be nice and comfy in the back row. We arrived at Malacca at 630am and were all so dazed that we just sat on some concrete steps in the bus station for 1/2hour before collectively making the worst descision EVER. As we’d been sat down for the past 9 hours we...
Batu Ferrinigi
02/11/2010 Went for a hangover breakfast and went for English option….beans on toast with cheese. Wish i went for chicken and rice again to be honest! The four of us took the bus to Batu Ferrinigi on the North coast of Penang. Nothing special but theres a beach and some nice places to eat. The craziest thing was seeing Muslim and Islaam women fully clothed in the sea and para-sailing. Of...

Day satu in Georgetown, Penang
01/12/10 Had a little wander around Georgetown this morning, suprise suprise I got myself horrendously lost for half an hour or so but when my stupid self figured out the map it was all ok. Apart from the getting lost part it was a chilled out walk with some interesting sights. I saw a lot of run down houses with wooden french doors/windows which if you opened you would fall out onto the...

Bus to Penang
30/11/2010 Barely slept last night but i think its just jet-lag so i’ll get over it soon. Woke up early and discovered my favourite time of day in Kuala Lumpur. None fo the stalls are open so theres no vnedors to hassell you, its just cool enough that you’re not sweating your face off as soon as you get outside and the only people around are the school kids grabbing breakfast. I got on...
